-Posting Layouts on Twitter or FB is a huge plus!
-Be active and engaged in the CT forums and help sing the Geek's Praises all over Digiland (enabling, twittering, praise games, and networking)

If you don't follow me on Twitter or FB- I figured I'd let you know that A) You really should be LOL and B) I am home, all is well as far as we know and I'm getting slowly back into the swing of things.

I was right, I did miss you all. :) I had originally planned to be out of touch until at least Monday, yet here Sunday is and I'm already posting (though I was around on a limited basis yesterday evening)

While I was on forced invalid status, I did a little thinking, a little sketching (some very fun kit ideas to share with you all!), and a LOT of sleeping. Lucky for me my in-laws enjoy spending large amounts of time with Kat, so she was well and truly occupied during this little episode of As the Lewis Family Turns lol.

So the thinking led me to a little resolution (let's see if I keep it) Between every kit, I want to try to scrap at least a page before moving on to the next kit. Now that I don't really do CT work any more, my scrapping is way behind. I love designing so much that I don't stop- ever (seriously, it's a little crazy) So- between every kit, a page. I can do that, right?

Well I just finished a lovely collab, so here is my scrap page :) I found some pictures of Kat from last spring that I had never scrapped and they went so well with a kit I had been jonesing for, that I decided to treat myself and kick off my little scrapping plan with some sweetness :)

So now I get to get back to design work- I have some really lovely things planned for both my PDP store, and my guest spot next month. Where will I be guesting? Hmmm, that's a blog for another day- bwahahahaha!

Out of touch for a few days....

I know I don't post much personal stuff on this blog- mostly because when it comes to anything other than sharing cute pictures of my daughter and perhaps some journaling on my scrapbook pages, I'm a pretty private person. It's just in the way I was brought up :)

Right now I'm dealing with some (fairly minor) health issues, but they've got me all out of sorts and feeling blah. I found out today that I have to go in tomorrow to have some outpatient surgery, and that I'm going to be groggy and in a little pain over the next few days- so I won't be online until I'm feeling a bit better. Chatting with my friends and fans is what keeps me from feeling too homesick or disconnected- and I'm finding that I'll definitely miss you all :)

Mostly right now though- I'm feeling a little scared about tomorrow, I know it's going to be minor- and I also know I'll feel loads better and back to my goofy self soon because of it... but I can't chill out to get any sleep right now because I can't stop thinking and worrying. So if you have time tomorrow, or find you're missing your daily does of chaos and mayhem, say a little prayer for me to be calm and for everything to go as planned- or just think of The Geek and smile, that would also be good.

I'll be back soon with my mojo in full force. In the meantime I've bought a couple pretty templates and kits to keep me occupied if I feel up to scrapping- I have a pile of books, my sketchbooks and pens, and a stack of chick flicks to keep me occupied while I spend some downtime recovering. I shall be quite lonely without you all to keep me smiling...

I'm pretty excited to bring you my new releases today- first up is my very first Grab Bag- you get a WHOLE bunch of Geeky goodness for a good bit less than you would pay for it otherwise, and since I'm such a grab bag addict- I just had to hook you all up! Next up, we have my new Mega Baby Book kit- Baby Lily. There's a bit of a special story behind this one. My best friend (you know the kind, the one you could never do enough for to thank them for being so amazing?) is having a baby this May, bet you can't guess the baby's name... Lily They're doing her room all in cupcakes, so I made my best friend a kit she could use to customize an entire baby book (charts included) for Baby Lily. I went one better, and then contacted one of the best scrappers I know- Laura Wilson (emmasmommy0728) and we paired up to do some Quickpages, some Premade Baby Book Pages, and some Templates from the kit. I bundled all this up with a copy of PSE and gave it to my friend for her Baby Shower.

I figured then that it might be a good idea to let everyone enjoy what we had worked so hard on So here you have Baby Lily. You can get the full kit, or some of the pieces a la cart. OR you can buy the Soopa Bundle and get the kit, plus all the extra QP's, Premade Baby Book Pages, and Templates and get an amazing deal! Winter Favorites

My friend and fellow designer at PolkaDot Plum- Danielle (The Design Girl) is doing a favorites of winter post on her blog, and I thought I'd join in the favorite fun. :)

So now that we're saying (I dearly hope) goodbye to Winter, here are your Geeky Gal's favorites!

Favorite memory:
This is a hard one for me to choose, as a mom, there are so many of those little moments that etch themselves into your memory as your kids grow, and they're all precious. I'm sure I should probably choose something more concrete than the way Kat's hair smells after her bath, or how cute she looks in her piggy pajamas- but I can't seem to! I guess for me this winter was Kat's big transition from baby to little girl- a really cool little person with her own opinions, ideas, and preferences. It's been an amazing process, and it's happening more every day. When I look back at this winter, that's what I'm going to remember.

Favorite Song:
For the winter, probably Smile by Uncle Kracker

Favorite TV show:
Hmm, I don't watch a ton of TV- but I've been watching 30 Rock and The Office pretty much all winter- I wasn't thrilled with the season openers, but I am liking the newer episodes I've seen!

Favorite Food {out}:
Zuppa Toscana from Olive Garden- in the winter it's my absolute favorite soup, it just warms me up from the inside out- and it's oh-so-yummm...

Favorite food {home made}:
I made a LOT of homemade Banana Nut Bread this year, and everyone in the house seemed to really love it. It definitely makes for a nice yummy breakfast, and I don't even have to beg Kat to eat it! I love making it with fresh whole ingredients so I know that even though it's a 'treat' to Kat, that she's still getting lots of great vitamins and nutrients.

Favorite drink:
Diet Coke- every season, every day.... yeah I'm a little bit of a junkie! Though if we're talking Winter Specific- Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte- and I know you're thinking "That's a fall drink" but I fell in love with it in the fall, and the folks at my local Starbucks were awesome enough to make it for me all winter long- I must just be really cute like that LOL

I couldn't live without my:
COMPUTER! Oh dear- it kept me sane all winter long snowed in with the baby. Getting to talk with all you lovely folks, hone my design skills, play games, blog- it's my sanity for sure. When the internet goes down in our house it's an emergency. :)

Favorite event:
My friend Jen coming up here with her son Johnny for Kat's birthday. It was such a fun week, and we spent so much time together, and getting to watch Kat and Johnny together was just a ball. It was nice to see some of my old friends again- it eases the homesickness!

So I'm ready to welcome Spring now- officially! You hear that Michigan? Keep that snow they say we're getting next week, and bring me some Springtime!!

Also new today- 2 more entries in my very popular 'Fetti line- Heartfetti and Springfetti! These are CU friendly, but great as a scrapping tool as well. My CT just can't seem to get enough of them. Each pack includes 5 different scatters including a border scatter and an overlay scatter. The shadows are on separate layers and it's completely customizable! The How-to Gal is full of tutorials and crafts, lots of really original fun things to try out. And since I'm a HUGE craft junkie, I love it- I also love all the fun quirky ideas she has- if you like to craft, check her out!

Cake Wrecks-
Ohhh the hours I could waste on this blog- the pictures are hilarious, and the captions are usually funnier. I could tell you about it, but really- you should go look for yourself, this is a totally visual experience!

The Farm Chicks-
The author of this blog spent the first years of her childhood "in a hippie gypsy wagon, hand-built by my father, wandering the back roads of the U.S., Canada and Mexico." and now she's a contributing editor for Country Living magazine- this blog is full of neat stories, great organizational tips, and lots of other really fun and entertaining stuff.

Thursday Theory

A few years ago when I first ventured into DigiScrapping- if you had told me that I'd meet some of the most amazing, creative, fun, sweet, and wacky people I'd ever met in my life, I might have laughed at you.

If you had told me I'd be designing some of the fun things I was scrapping with, I'd have laughed even harder- perhaps shot milk out of my nose. (attractive, no?)

Here I am, sitting at the beginning of my design career, full of all these lovely possibilities- and sometimes, just sometimes- I feel like the world just might be my oyster. I still can't believe that I'm here, in this amazing store, surrounded by this fabulous Creative Team, and by all you wonderful Geek Fans. I'm just feeling thankful, and slightly amazed tonight at where I've landed. I can't help but wonder where I'm going... but I do know I'm glad that all you wonderful wacky people are along for the ride with me.

Life is full of crazy impossibilities, and all we can do is sit back and hold on tight! That's my Thursday Theory anyway....

I wasn't feeling well all week, but yesterday I finally started to feel okay again- so we bundled up and took Kat outside to go play in the snow. This mostly consisted of me sitting on our porch watching Tim pull Kat around in the sled- but we had a ball! I had to share this picture, as so few of our family pictures actually have me in them at all. Plus I think Kat looks so adorable in her little snowsuit. Cutest Marshmallow Monkey Ever!

Really, I've spent so much time designing and scrapping and living in Digi-Scraplandia that my actual personal blog that my family and friends from back home used to read has gone completely stagnant. That's how much I love you all ;) Also, how addicted I am to Photoshop...

So you're going to start seeing more actual blogging from me (crazy, right?) but I promise to keep the lovely design goodness coming! (and freebie goodness for all you freebie stalkers- you know who you are! *giggle* and I used to be one of you, so it's okay- I won't judge you)

I not only really LOVE blogging, I love reading other people's blogs. That little window into someone else's quirkyness always makes me feel less alone in my own random nerdy strangeness.

So here are a few blogs I've discovered that I'm totally digging right now:

How 2 Stay Fat-
I seriously just found this blog thanks to Laura, and I'm LOVING it.... I've really had enough of all those diet blogs, and the exercise junkies, and all those dang healthy people- give me someone with MY attitude towards food- and then let them pack the blog with yummy recipes, a wry sense of humor, and lots of pictures... and you've got How 2 Stay Fat.

Thin girls, it's not that I hate you (I have lots of thin friends, I swear!), I'm just really tired of hearing how you're like jogging 5 miles while I sit here and eat cookies. I do truly think I have the better end of the deal- my wiggle may have a little jiggle in it- but I'm curled up in my pajamas warm inside eating cookies... while you're outside in the slush and cold running... RUNNING *shakes her head* (running is reserved only for being chased by something large and scary, or perhaps chasing down kilted menfolks IMHO)

The Design Girl Blog-
Danielle is not only a dear friend of mine, and a fellow designer at PDP- she's also a very entertaining blogger. Her candid opinions and confesssions, her sense of humor, and her style of blogging are usually good for a giggle. Her blog never fails to entertain me, and I'd read it even if I weren't her friend- so true. She also does LOTS of fabulous giveaways from Etsy-esque folks (which makes her even MORE fun) so she's definitely worth following and checking out! Now just to convince her that this geek needs a blog makeover... lol

The Simple Scrapper-
Everytime a new goodie pops up on the Simple Scrapper blog I scuttle on over to read it- and it's always worth my time! I love her Friday Finds- as well as all the great little tidbits on how to get organized and just to see what else is happening in Digi-Scraplandia! For you Freebie Stalkers- you'll want to follow this- some great giveaways and freebie templates on her site!

More blogging (and maybe more blogs to share) at a later point in time when I'm not sick- for now I'm going to go snatch a little nap while the Wee Monkey Girl sleeps!

I finally found a digi-home for my goodies- I was one of the winners in the GingerScraps Design contest, and am now a GingerBread Lady!

I feel blessed and amazed that I won, I certainly didn't expect to when I entered- but after all the hard work I'm actually one of the gals picked.

So now what? I get to work ;) You'll be seeing lots of goodies from me soon, I've been industriously working away in the Geek Labs cooking up at least 2 new kits, and a few extra goodies- and more to come! I also plan to have a CT call sometime very soon as well.

That I took the sage advice of a few of my mentors and entered the Designer Competition over at Ginger Scraps. I have to admit it was grueling and stressful at times, I usually design quickly- but having the deadline looming was always in my mind. It forced me to focus my creative energy and know that I had to turn out excellent product the first time, not the third or fifth. It disciplined me, and forced me to learn just how all those lovely little CU shortcuts and tricks work/were made so that I can make my own.

I am more proud of my kit in the final round than anything I've created so far, and feel like I've finally found my 'voice' as a designer. I entered the competition knowing that I occasionally made pretty things if I tried, but didn't feel very secure and definitely didn't even call myself a designer yet. The sense of confidence I have in my own work now is amazing, and I can't even describe how happy that makes me.

I also found a small but wonderful group of Geek Fans- or perhaps they found me? The e-mails, IMs, comments, and personal messages really make my day- and I adore you all!

Overall- I think doing this competition was the best thing I could've done- and whether I win or not, the experience alone is absolutely priceless. And don't worry my fellow geeks- even if I don't win I'll be selling somewhere, mark my words- I'm determined now ;) Thank you to everyone who helped me out along the way, encouraged me, and scrapped with my goodies. You keep the Geek going ;) I'll be doing a CT call as soon as I find a store, so be sure to keep an eye out ;)

I've always been an avid collector of old costume jewelry- especially those lovely victorian pieces, and I feel like I totally got a treasure trove with this kit. It's HUGE! Tons of papers and elements- and all of them just gorgeous. It's technically a pretty fall kit- and there are some pretty fall elements in there, but honestly it's more versatile than that. I so love it when 2 teams I create for do a collab together- it saves me time *wink*. But seriously- this turned out SO cool! Allison Pennington and Lauren and Amy from Polka Dot Plum Designs released this yesterday! I love that it's not one of the cutesy Halloween kits (not that I don't enjoy those) but this one would be awesome for scrapping a horror movie night, or a haunted house, or anything fun scary! As you can see below, it's totally capable of being scrapped into something cute (as it doesn't get much cuter than WeeKat) but this kit is just totally rockin'!

I will never forget this day...
we were supposed to have a beautiful candlelit evening wedding outside overlooking the lake... instead, we got thunderstorms, the wrong flowers, and everything went wrong!
What we got then was a beautiful imperfect indoor wedding, where we couldn’t stop kissing each other and laughing all the way through the ceremony..
It was the most perfect imperfect wedding I could have ever asked for!

Geek News- October

So a few pieces of news in Geek Land-

Michelle Batton has graciously let me stick around after my guest spot this month as a member of her Full Time CT- the girls over there are so fun, and Michelle is just a blast- the fact that her designs are tre cool is just an added bonus, I definitely am jazzed to be sticking around!

My stint as a guest CT for Amanda Carlson is over, and I want to thank her for having me for the month! Her stuff is so very fun, and I really enjoyed getting to work with it!

In October I'll be guesting with Brandy Designs (who I'll be doing a collab kit with sometime in the nearish future), The Design Girl, and Totally Twisted Scraps.

On a personal note- we are in the process of buying our first home (yay!) but that also means that I'll have less time to keep up with everything around here for a little while, we don't have an exact move date yet, but I'll likely go for a few days without internet access once the loan closes and the actual moving and packing process begins. I'm going to keep up with my commitment of a freebie every Tuesday, hopefully I won't miss one, but if I do, I'll be sure to make it up to you!

I had a blast getting to goof off with them and the rest of the PDP designers Opening Week, and of course I had to say yes to that invitation! Luckily for me, it's a very laid back creative team (which as my creative team roster fills up yet again after I just pared it down- is a good thing! LOL) I just seem to keep getting offers I can't refuse!)

So I got to work with Sweet Little Claire- and I love this kit so SO much! It's absolutely my new favorite kit, most especially for my personal scrapbook pictures (as opposed to things I create solely for CT work- I tend to not show off too many of our very personal page) I had to share this one I did today though- Kat feeding the ducks at the park where her Grandpa is a policeman :) She had so much fun, and I had so much fun scrapping this and playing with this awesome kit that I just had to share! 2 of my favorite recent LO's are from this kit- if you're smart, you'll grab it and play with it too!

September Days Revamped

Michelle Batton has revamped her September Days kit, and it's on sale over at The Digichick right now :) I got to scrap some pictures of my first fall in Michigan with it- with the snow over the colored leaves (crazy weather LOL) and I'm loving the LO that happened. I just wish I'd have found a way to use that awesome alpha- it's so cool! I guess that's just call for me to do another LO- I also used her Inked Edges as well. I'm actually spending my day at the Renaissance Faire today doing a Pub Crawl in honor of my friend's birthday- but I've set my blog up to post this for you all today to enjoy while I'm not here to play with you! I'm sure at this moment I'm giggling into my cider and staring at kilted men :)

I'm experimenting more and more with what I design, and actually have a small stack of goodies to give away as freebies during the next few weeks. I'm finding the more I get my feet wet designing, the more I enjoy it and the more proud I am of my results! This is my very first alpha ever :) so enjoy!
